Lots and lots have happened since the last log.  A couple of weeks ago we decided to have a BBQ for the crew.  These fellas have all put in many hours and worked with great care on our house.  They are always polite and appreciative.

From left to right Mike, Matt, Chris, Rob, Dan, Jacob, Nick, and Tim our Contractor.  Missing Larry the painter.

The house exterior.

As of today 3/4 of the hardie plank siding has been installed.  Much of the larger trim has been installed.  Most of the window and door trim has been cut but not yet installed.  The railings for the deck and retaining wall have been ordered.  The long planks on the drying rack are the soffits.  We are having wood soffits.

The hardie plank is installed.  It gets painted in place.  Although these pictures don't show it, all of the hardie plank that is installed is painted now.

The house interior.

We have not been inside the house very much in the last week.  This is because the gyproc people have been mudding and sanding.  It's hot and smelly in there.  We expect that they will be finished by mid next week and then we can start interior painting.  We have picked all the colours for the interior walls.

The Lot.

We spent much time on the back forested part of the lot.  Mostly making paths and clearing blackberry brambles, ivy and accumulated junk from the east property line.  One of the houses back there was a rental and they let the whole back yard get covered about 3 meters deep with brambles.  The brambles encroached about 2 meters into our property then it is too dark for them to grow.
Jane through the brambles

We broke through!  The view from the South west to the north west corner.

Yes I can definitely see Jane now!

Happy bramble conquerors.
